The Lee House is finally getting a face lift via new siding and trim. Hopefully it won't be much longer until it is completed. Meanwhile, the house is available at anytime for those who want to stay. The interior is also nearly done. The renovations of the upstairs and front parts of the house has made it possible for us to start housing guests. We had our first family stay over a year ago. The Lee House Historic Bed And Breakfast in Munday, Tx
The Lee House is a historically renovated home in just south of Centennial Park in Munday. Up until 2005, the house was home to many different families over the last century but had remained vacant for many years. In spite of its shabby appearance on the outside, the foundation and the structure of the house was in almost ideal shape. Karen and Bill Longan, long time Munday citizens, decided to take on the project in order to give Munday it's first lboutique prairie victorian bed and breakfast establishment.
New electric wiring, anew roof, insulation, new windows, and central heating and cooling were the first priorities for the house. The wrap-around porch was repaired and a new front door was added soon after. The interior renovations began upstairs with refinished hard wood floors, and four newly redesigned guest rooms. Each of the four rooms, features a different color scheme and various collected antique pieces. Some of the furniture was gathered from local citizens who wanted to contribute to the project. Antiques, restored iron beds, crown mouldings, beaded boards, and calming color gives each room a distinctly charming and elegant atmosphere. The upstairs also features a grand bath with a antique claw-foot bath tub. The bath features stained glass decor, a vintage style vanity and shower. The upstairs has been operating as a guest house since November 2007 with guests from as far away as California. In fact, members of the Munday family were some of the first customers to stay as guests in the Lee House.
The downstairs is currently under construction, however three more rooms have recently been made available. The front west parlor is now complete and features ar original fireplace mantel, marble tables, victorian furniture, a beautiful chrystal chandelier and contemporary style rustic elegance. The dining room also features an antique chandelier and textured tin style walls. The third newest room available is the downstairs half bath that is adjacent to the dining room.
Plans for the east parlor and the master downstairs bedroom are the next projects. The house, when complete with have a total of 5 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, 2 parlors, a dining room and kitchen.
